CrediX Hacker Agrees to Return $4.5M After Settlement Negotiations
CrediX Finance has secured the return of $4.5 million stolen in a recent exploit after reaching a settlement with the attacker. The hacker drained funds via a multisig admin wallet attack but agreed to full restitution in exchange for an undisclosed payout from CrediX’s treasury.
The protocol confirmed the recovery process will begin within 24-48 hours, with reimbursements distributed via airdrop to affected users. This incident follows a surge in crypto hacks, with July 2025 alone recording $153 million in losses and year-to-date breaches exceeding $3.1 billion.
CrediX, a fledgling real-world asset lending platform, suffered the attack less than a month after launch. The resolution avoids legal action while setting a precedent for white-hat negotiations in decentralized finance exploits.
